Waste to Energy
As much as we try to re-use an amount of the household and commercial waste we produce, inevitably there is a proportion of this waste which may not be recycled.
A waste to energy facility converts municipal and industrial solid waste into electricity and/or heat for industrial processing and for district heating systems – an ecologically sound, cost-effective means of energy recovery.
Waste is incinerated at high temperatures creating steam which in turn drives a turbine that creates electricity, this is an efficient way to recover valuable resources And it is fully complementary to recycling.
It is possible to re-use up to 90 % of the metals contained in the bottom ash at the end of the process and the remaining material can be reused in ground works.
